You can upload your existing WPS documents, with their PQRs, and WeldTrace's AI process will read them and add them to your WPS library. WeldTrace finds every WPS and PQR in each file, presents the data for you to review and correct, and then imports the WPSs you accept, each with its own PDF attached and with up to three PQRs. Nothing is imported until you accept it. This replaces typing each WPS in, or filling in the WPS import CSV template by hand.
Step 1 - Open the AI import

Open WPS & PQR > WPS (All).
- Click the AI import button (the magic wand) to open "Import from documents (AI)". The button shows the number of uploads being read, and turns green when an upload is ready for review.
Step 2 - Upload the WPS files

- Your plan's allowance for document extractions. Each uploaded file counts once; files that cannot be read do not count;
- Click "Browse PDF files" and select the WPS files. You can select up to 50 PDF files at a time. A file can hold several WPSs and their PQRs; other document types found in a file are listed and skipped;
- The selected files are listed with their sizes. Click "x" to remove a file;
- Click "Upload and read" to upload the files and start the AI process.
Stay on the page until the files have been uploaded. The AI process then runs in the background, so you can leave the page. You will be sent an email when the data is ready to review. Your earlier uploads are listed on this page under "Earlier uploads", with their status and a link to review them.

Each WPS found is listed in a row. Check the data against the document and correct it before you import.
- Filter the rows: All, Needs attention, Ready, Skipped and Imported. "Skipped" lists WPSs that are already in WeldTrace;
- Click "Export CSV" to download the extracted data as a CSV file in the WPS import format, with a Notes column;
- Click "Discard" to close the upload without importing anything;
- Click "Import selected" to import the ticked rows (see Step 6);
- Click a value to change it. Your changes are saved as you go. Red notes must be fixed before a row can be imported; amber notes are for checking and do not stop the import;
- Tick the rows to import. The box in the heading ticks all the rows that are ready;
- The status of the row. "Ready" can be imported; "Ready (new revision)" is a new revision of a WPS already in WeldTrace; "Needs attention" has a red note to fix;
- An amber note under a value explains it. "Generated" means the value was not printed on the document and WeldTrace made it up from the other data, as here for the WPS title;
- The WPS number, revision, date, welding code, and the process and type for the root, fill and cap are read from the document.

Scroll right to see the rest of the data.
- "Inferred" means the value was worked out from the document rather than printed on it, as here for the minimum thickness. Check these values;
- The joint type, product form, units, thickness range, position, PWHT details and whether the WPS is qualified or prequalified are also read.

- The PQRs that support the WPS (up to three). Click the value to change them (see Step 4);
- An amber note on a PQR. Here the PQR date was not on the document, so the WPS date was used;
- Click "View" to open the pages of the document the row was read from (see Step 5). The delete button removes a row you do not want.
The Comments column holds anything else the AI read that does not have its own field, such as the base metal P Numbers.
Step 4 - Check the PQRs

Click the PQRs value of a row to check and change its PQRs.
- The PQR number, revision, date and test report number of each PQR. Correct them if needed, or click "x" to remove a PQR;
- Click "+ Add a PQR" to add one. A WPS can have up to three PQRs;
- Click "Save" to keep the changes.
A PQR found in the files that does not match any WPS in the upload is listed above the grid and is not used.
Step 5 - Check the source document

- The document opens beside the grid at the pages the row was read from, so you can compare the values with the document;
- Click "Open in new tab" to see it full size. Click "x" to close it.
Step 6 - Import the WPSs
Tick the rows to import and click "Import selected". Confirm the import: the WPSs are created in WPS (All) with their documents attached. WeldTrace returns you to WPS (All) when the import is done.

- Imported rows are listed under "Imported";
- The status changes to "Imported";
- When every row has been imported or skipped, the upload is closed.
Step 7 - The imported WPS

The imported WPS is listed in WPS (All). Click its number to open it.
- The WPS number;
- The WPS document is attached to the WPS;
- Information the AI read that has no field of its own is kept in the Comments;
- The range qualified values and the processes, as reviewed;
- The PQRs of the WPS.
You can edit the WPS as usual if anything needs changing. Corrections your team makes while reviewing are remembered for your account: where a document prints the same thing again, WeldTrace applies the correction (marked "Learned") or uses it as a hint when reading. These are listed on the upload page under "Learned corrections", where you can remove any you do not want.
