Add a Material (one at a time)

Add material page

Select the base metal

Click on the "+" button in the Materials List page and enter these data:
  1. Heat Number: The heat number found on MTR (material test report or mill test report); Maximum number of characters: 25. Only these special characters allowed: ./#-();
  2. Lot Number: This is an optional field. If you have two different products that have the same heat number, you may add a lot number. Together the heat number - lot number combination must be unique for a project; Optional field; Maximum 25 characters permitted;
  3. Material Name: Name of the material as commercially known e.g. SS316L or P91; Optional field; Maximum n characters permitted;
  4. P Number: Enter the P number of the base metal or pick a base metal from the list. The screenshot above on the right shows the filters and how to select a base metal;
  5. Material Type: Product form or material type. The options are: Plate, Sheet, Rod, Pipe, Tube, Structural, Other, Box Tube & Pipe Fitting. If you select a pipe fitting from the list, you need to select the pipe fitting type from the list of pipe fittings. The options are:
    1. Pipe-Nipple;
    2. Tee;
    3. Reducing Tee;
    4. Elbow;
    5. Concentric Reducer;
    6. Eccentric Reducer;
    7. Flange-Weld Neck;
    8. Flange-Slip on;
    9. Flange-RTJ Ring Joint;
    10. Flange-Socket Weld;
    11. Flange-Blind;
    12. Welded Valves;
    13. O-Let-WOL;
    14. O-Let-EOL;
    15. O-Let-TOL;
    16. O-Let-SOL;
  6. Dimension fields appropriate to the selection of material type:
    1. For plates or sheets: Thickness;
    2. For pipes or tubes or pipe fittings: Outside diameter; Wall thickness; For pipes or tubes, you may instead pick a dimension from the dimensions list page;
    3. For structural sections: Major size of the structural section e.g. if the product is 100 x 75 x 6 mm, unequal angle, then 100; Minor size of the structural section e.g. 75; Thickness e.g. 6;
    4. For "Other," no dimension fields will be available;
  7. Quantity on hand: Optional field. You may use this field for managing the inventory;
  8. Unit of measure: The options displayed here will depend on the account setting and the material type;
  9. Supplier: Name of the supplier. Optional field; Maximum 18 characters permitted;
  10. Location: The location where the material is kept e.g. Store. Optional field; Maximum 18 characters permitted;
  11. Upload Certificate: Upload the mill test certificate - only PDF files may be uploaded;
  12. Comments: Some general comments about this material. Maximum 100 characters permitted;
  13. Status: All materials added to a project will have the "active" status, which means that the material will be available for use in that project. So, the "status" field is not shown in this form. If you cannot use that material or if no stock is available, the material should be edited and the status should be changed to "inactive";
The project data book will have the materials ordered and grouped by the product form and then by size
