Using specific WPS, welders and machines in a project in WeldTrace

Using specific WPS, welders and machines in a project

When you create and configure a project you will need to select one of two options in the "WPS Configuration" step.

There are some advantages as well as disadvantages in selecting the option "specific WPS, welders, and machines" instead of the "use all" option.

The advantage of using this method over the other option is to limit the exposure of all your welding documents in the WPS repository to those users who are not given access to the WPS repository. For example, an employee of a subcontractor may only be added to a project as a welding supervisor. This person may not have been given access to your WPS & PQR repository. If the "use all" option is used, all the WPS will be listed in the weld log and once you select a WPS, the link to view the document will be available in the weld details page. You will create a back door access to your WPS & PQR repository for unauthorized users unwittingly.

The disadvantage, of course, is to search and sift through perhaps hundreds of WPS and select one by one. You will find a simpler method to select many WPS at once.

  9. If you do not need some WPS, click on the red "X" button to remove them from the list;
You can visit this page anytime to add more WPS and welders or remove unused WPS and welders. You can keep your data safe from unauthorized users this way.
